Hello, Seven years ago, my wife Christine and I came to visit a paradise in the mountains of East Tennessee – we never left. We were overwhelmed by the beauty of this place – the pristine Tellico River, the Cherokee National Forest and the Cherohala Skyway. We feel so privileged to call this magical place home. We invite you to come see for yourself, and when you do, we believe you’ll want to make this home, too. That’s why I created Telliquah Preserve, a private gated residential enclave of only 21 homesites right on the river. Please give us a call and let me introduce you to this truly unique and beautiful place. Who knows – we may be neighbors soon. Warm Regards, Tom Cormier |

Telliquah is the Gathering Place... |
|
Then...Hidden away in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains, Telliquah has always been a place of spectacular beauty. The rugged mountains and cascading rivers caused the Cherokee to believe this was the first place God created. Each summer, the Cherokee gathered at Telliquah to celebrate. This was a place of renewal, a place to escape the strains of ordinary existence. Here disputes were set aside. Telliquah was Sanctuary. Over the centuries, settlers came, but their numbers were few. Telliquah remained a sleepy little mountain village right up to the last years of the Twentieth Century. But that began to slowly change with the building of the Cherohala Skyway, a national scenic byway undulating fifty miles through the Cherokee and Nantahala National Forests. The Skyway brought a curious few who gaped at the breath-taking scenery and marveled that all this was undiscovered. |

| Of course, such a secret pleasure
couldn’t remain a secret, and a farsighted few saw the advantages of
living in a place that had not been discovered, a place that did not
have – or need -- a traffic light.
One of the “new settlers” was a New England transplant named Tom Cormier. He set about taking steps to enhance Telliquah while at the same time preserving all that made it unique and wonderful. Now...Telliquah offers the very best of Nature’s abundance. The center-piece is the Tellico River, one of the few natural-flow rivers in the Tennessee Valley. Canoe or kayak or go fly-fishing on the river – Telliquah Outfitters will be glad to lend a hand. And you really must see Bald River Falls – a dazzling hundred foot cascade right beside the river road. Hike or bike the many high-country trails. Shoot sporting clays or skeet at Heritage Meadows or take a guided bird-watching tour. And if that sounds too strenuous, just curl up in an Adirondack chair with a good book and watch the river and the world roll lazily by – you’ve earned it. All these adventures are bound to make you hungry, and you are in luck. Bistro by the River offers a tantalizing menu and an inspiring view of the Tellico River. It is a feast for both the eyes and the palate. The bountiful table is prepared by a world-class chef. And if you’re in the mood to celebrate, the Bistro is the only place in the area where libations are offered with your meal. Visit the quaint little town of Tellico Plains and journey across the Cherohala Skyway – a favorite adventure for exotic sports-car clubs because scenic wonders wait around every new turn. Spend the night at Telliquah, look up and see stars so bright you won’t believe your eyes. Sleep like a baby and wake-up to discover you weren’t dreaming after all. It’s all real – and there’s so much more to come .... at Telliquah. Next...Tom Cormier has a vision for Telliquah, a very real vision based on his experience co-developing Nestlenook Farm Resort in Jackson, New Hampshire. Like Nestlenook, Telliquah is a world-class destination resort community with a limited number of upscale resort residences. The complex is a blend in unobtrusively with Nature’s glorious surroundings. Natural materials are being used wherever possible. Private homes are being sited to take full advantage of the incredible beauty of the river and the mountains. While preserving and enhancing the best of Nature, Telliquah also offers the latest in entertainment and communication. That means HDTV and hi-speed Internet, of course. To realize his vision, Tom Cormier has invested in many of the buildings in the historic town square. That includes more than a mile of riverfront property along the Tellico River. This investment assures that Telliquah will grow with integrity and preserve the best of the past while building toward a brighter future. Telliquah also continues to respect the traditions of the local community, and support and encourage the growth of an already substantial artist’s enclave. These artists add a truly wonderful and unexpected cultural sophistication to the area. For Tom Cormier, Telliquah is a chance to make dreams come true. That is why he moved his own family to Telliquah. Now this has become far more than an investment opportunity – now this is home. And Telliquah is now home to an exclusive few who see what the Cherokee saw, what those first few settlers saw, and what Tom Cormier saw: This place is truly unique in all the world. Come Home to Telliquah... |
